Yeah! We made it a week! High five. In this one week, we've gotten over 100 views, which means word is slowly getting out, or a couple people just really like this. Hopefully this number grow exponentially especially with the addition of a friend of mine. Meredith will be writing (for now) on Wednesdays, at least until we can get a better grasp of what we want from this blog. As always, feedback is more than appreciated. Lets start things off shall we?
The Bird And The Bee - Polite Dance Song (Indie/Pop)
Here's a little song from The Bird And The Bee, a duo out of L.A. The keyboardist/producer has worked with the likes of Lilly Allen, Beck, and even The Red Hot Chili Peppers. They blew up a while ago, this song is actually almost 3 years old, released on an EP in 2007. Still a good track, the lyrics are cute, and it's got a great beat to it.
M83 - We Own The Sky(Indie/Electric/Pop)
Another great song. This is by M83, a French act who (sadly) haven't introduced an album in a couple years. HOWEVER! That doesn't mean that they're not still out there. They just recently dropped a single, and they are still remixing some other people's works. I just love it when a music video fits so perfectly with the song itself, and that's definitely the case here. Enjoy this song, enjoy the video. Let it take you somewhere.
Crystal Castles - Baptism(Electric/Experimental)
Straight outta Toronto Canada (see an emerging trend?), Crystal Castles is a great duo. Their music is usually a 'love it or hate it' type deal, but they still have produced two outrageous albums. Formed in 2005, they started off with a massive bang, especially in Toronto. Now 2 years after releasing their first album, which was voted 39th in the 50 best albums of all time by British music magazine NME, they released their second album, also self titled. Personally, I thought there was an unwritten rule about releasing two back to back self titled albums, but after listening to it in the summer, I couldn't care less.
Passion Pit - Little Secrets (Jack Beats Remix)(Indie/Dubstep/House)
Earlier this year, around February, a friend of mine sent me Jack Beats' "Essential Mix", which aired originally on a British radio station. It was what they said was "two hours of wobbly UK house." And that's exactly what it was. The mix started off with this song, which basically forecasted the next hour and fifty five minutes. Enjoy this bangin' remix of an already amazing song.
A.C. Slater - Jack Got Jacked(House/Electro/Dance)
It was only fitting that I followed the previous song with this one. This song comes to us from Brooklyn, from a man going by A.C. Slater, who prides in his heavy and bumpin' bass lines. This song is almost a challenge presented to Jack Beats, which I always think is awesome, because you know that no matter what, there's going to be an even better song coming back at him. This song is definitely a banger. Enjoy this.
