This is a blog, dedicated to music enjoyed in its purest form: While sitting on a bathroom floor. As you listen to these songs, don't hesitate to send me songs as well. I'll listen to any song, and if it's good, I'll post it along with the other ones.
I really enjoy hearing what people think of the songs I play them, so send me your comments, criticisms, song, thoughts, or anything else you can think of. I'll get back to you with a (hopefully) witty retort.

Long Overdue
Hey gang. This post is definitely more than long overdue post, but I've just been unable to stop listening to this album. "If You're Young" is the debut album from Indie-Alternative band The Static Jacks. Straight out of Westfield NJ, The Static Jacks released their first album at the end of August and have been on the road since. If they swing by your neck of the woods, I highly recommend you go and see them, and tell me how much of an amazing performance they put on, because after listening to their music, I can only assume it's great.

Fresh, Floor Shaking Dubstep.
Alright folks. It's almost November, and you know what that means! The year's winding down, and soon we'll be getting many playlists of "Best _______ of 2011", which I'm pretty stoked for. I can't wait to take part in the building of those playlists, and if finals don't completely consume all of my time hopefully I'll be able to turn some out throughout the next two months. There's been a bunch of good music dropping recently, so I've gathered some Dubstep I've heard in the past week or so for your listening pleasure. So strap in for some down and dirty Dubstep ladies and gents.

Catastrophe Vol. 9
Don't know about you guys, but I've been waiting a very long time for this. And what is this you might ask. This, my friends, is Mustard Pimp's 9th installment of their Catastrophe Mixtape. I haven't actually listened to it as of yet, but based on the past eight mixtapes released by the French duo, I can only expect the best. So join me in saying, thanks Mustard Pimp, keep up the great work.

MixMonday: Netsky
Hay hay hay. I'm back, again, with another mix for you. This one comes to you from Belgium's hottest Drum and Bass producer, Netsky. In just 4 years of producing, he's managed to work closely with all of the artists who inspired him to start DJing in the first place including (but certainly not limited to); Nu:tone, Camo & Krooked, and High Contrast. This is his Essential Mix, one of BBC Radio 1's best ongoing feature. If you got the time, I more than highly recommend sitting down and having a listen to the various incredible artists that they feature. Anyways. Enjoy Netsky's Essential Mix in nice, clean, crisp HD, it's what I'm doing.

Back Again....
Hey all. My has it been a crazy couple of months. Between finishing the semester, graduating, moving, and struggling to find summer employment, The Bathroom Session has (unfortunately) taken a backseat to life. As of now, life is still pretty hectic, but personally, I really miss posting here. So lets do it. Summer '11. Speaking of Summer '11, there are some amazing releases coming up in the near future, so stay tuned for those. Moving right along...
Mustard Pimp - Catastrophe Mixtape Series Vol 8 by mustard pimp
Back again with their Eighth installment of the Catastrophe Mixtape is Mustard Pimp. For giving me something to constantly look forward to, I say "Thank you Mustard Pimp, keep up the good work."

Rescue.
If you were to ask me the first time I heard this band, I honestly wouldn't be able to tell you. However I can tell you that in 2005 when the band Silverstein released their second studio album "When Broken Is Easily Fixed", I ran to the store, shelled out my $19.99, and listened to it nonstop for quite sometime. It was amazing, and as a young teenager, I had found a new genre of music to explore.
If you're not familiar with them, Silverstein is a 5-piece Post-Hardcore band from Burlington, Ontario. Their sound is unmistakable without being drastically different from other bands of the same genre. The melodic vocals have a typical early 00's Pop-Punk feel, much like bands Taking Back Sunday or Blink 182, but the screams and growls always come heavy to break the them up. Silverstein is probably on the lighter side of today's Hardcore spectrum, but that doesn't mean a scarcity of dirty breakdowns and powerful heavy guitar sounds.
What makes Silverstein stand out for me in a sea of Hardcore bands all striving for fame and fortune is...well...hundreds of reasons. But I'll keep it brief.
First of all, they've been going hard for 11 years now, and with the release of their newest album, they're not showing signs of slowing down. In fact, their latest album "Rescue" is Silverstein's 5th studio album. Over the course of these 11 long years, the band's talent has obviously increased, but they've managed to keep their own sound. Some would say that all of their songs sound the same, which yes, to a certain extent they do. I don't see this as an issue, instead I see it as something admirable. In 2003 Silverstein released their first studio album "When Broken is Easily Fixed", and ever since, they've managed to consistently release an amazing sounding album every two years. To me, Silverstein's stability is one of their greatest virtues.
The second of these great virtues is the sheer power of their lyrics. I know it's a little cliché, but Silverstein definitely got me. No matter what I was going through growing up, there was a song that seemed to specifically speak to me; almost like a good friend sitting beside you saying "It's all gonna be okay, you'll see." Whether it was falling in love, being in love or getting your heart broken. Being happy. Being sad. Being made fun of, picked on, or pushed around. Divorce. Cancer. It seemed like Silverstein was there, writing each song just for me.
Anyways, I started writing this as an album review, but now I feel that the best way for me to show my admiration of Silverstein's new album "Rescue", is to acknowledge their ability to stay true to their sound, themselves, and their fans throughout these past 11 years, and even a change of record labels. Here's a taste of each of the bands previous 4 albums, and a bit of their amazing 5th album.

STOP, Drop, & Roll
Lately, I've been listening to a lot of mixes from various DJs and Producers. I've found a bunch of AMAZING mixes from people like Rusko, Jack Beats, Mustard Pimp (of course), and so many more. I love them 'cause it's always an hour or more of steady music. Of course, this appeals to me, because when I'm really 'lazy', I don't have to worry about changing songs. It's great. I'll try not to turn every post into a mix, but what can I say, when I hear something that sick, I want to share it.
Which brings me to my next point:
DJ S-Mart - STOP, Drop & Roll Mix (Mar. 2011) by zombi.disco
DJ S-Mart is back with another mix, and what a fine mix at that. S-Mart throws down some huge jams, from Deadmau5 to Duck Sauce in this hour-long mix. If he can continue the 2 month streak posting one mix per month, then we'll see another big, bass heavy mix sometime in the near future.

The Return Of Justice
Just a quick little post tonight, but the other day I was thinking to myself, "Man, I hope Justice releases some new stuff soon..."
And look here.
This is a little taste of what we can expect from the boys of Justice some time in the near future. The song is called Civilization, and a small sample of it was used in an Adidas advertisement not too long ago. What I'm posting tonight however, is the full high quality track. So enjoy, and start crossing your fingers for a release date soon.

Bob Your Head & Dance
Now how's this for a blog: three posts, three nights in a row. Way to go THBTHRMSSSION. Yeah, those were some MSTRKRFT-esque abbreviations right there. What'chu gon' do about it?
Formalities aside, I've taken a quick break from the Indie groove I've been in after realizing that Mustard Pimp just posted the sixth episode of their Catastrophe Mixtape. With that being said, how about a little house?
I gotta say, Mustard Pimp always comes consistently with banging House music. For that, I thank you Mustard Pimp. And I'm sure I'm not the only one when I say, keep up the good work.

This Is Our Versailles
I am ecstatic to bring you this glorious, brand spankin' new album by the incredibly talented boys of Protest The Hero. Scurrilous was just released today is Protest's third studio album, and I'd like to call it my favourite so far, but that would be rude to the other two. If you don't know them, Protest The Hero is an incredible Progressive Metal band from Whitby, Ontario, known for their incredible lyricism, difficult time signatures and rhythms, and their mind-blowingly technical guitar work. After releasing a couple of EPs, Protest's first album Kezia dropped in 2005. Blowing minds everywhere, they began to tour and their fan base grew far beyond the boarders of Canada. In 2008, Protest The Hero released the album Fortress, which showed the guys had learnt a hell of a lot more since their last album.
As far as Scurrilous is concerned, it is definitely a different sounding Protest. But it's not a bad thing! I was originally a little bit hesitant to really give it a chance; I had moved on from Fortress a while ago. However, after listening to the entire album, I was impressed. After listening a second time, I was dumbfounded. This album is definitely more melodic, with less screaming and growls than the Fortress; and this also is not a bad thing. This album is a clear picture of lead singer Rody Walker's vast vocal range. It's a definite step away from the current standard of Metal, where as the lyrics are sung to you, not yelled at you (there's still nothing wrong with that either). And on top of that, the lyricism of this album is absolutely incredible. Big kudos to Rody Walker and Arif Mirabdolbaghi for some truly gorgeous musical prose. I had always enjoyed Protest for their lyrics, and following Fortress with such magical and imaginative lyrics, Scurrilous did not let me down.
Now, I'd love to post the entire album here, but I'm pretty sure that may be frowned upon. So, as painful as it was, I picked you out a selection of songs that really tickled my ear drums. Enjoy!
[EDIT: I forgot to mention that the album is the sound of gophers cannibalizing each other, fangs barred, and claws extended; vicious gaping maws. Thanks Rob]

Spring!
Spring has sprung, which means
it's time for sweaters at night,
and some Indie Rock.
Yeah, I went all Haiku on that one. Yeah, it took me a good 15 minutes to write. And yeah, it's Indie Rock time.
Something about the Spring just makes me want to take advantage of the sun, defrost my bones, and listen to some sweet Indie Rock. Just kinda makes you forget all of the other things in your life that are going on, like a mini vacation...but in your head. I just finally escaped from the grasp of House and Dubstep, and into the warm grasp of Indie Rock, which gives me a chance to listen to all of the great albums I've missed while at Dubstep shows, or at my desk with my brain plugged into endless amounts of House music via headphones.
Anyways, here's a nice playlist of some sweet Indie songs that'll help you enjoy the coming spring weather (cause apparently we're getting snow tomorrow here in Jersey). I guess I can't really call this the "Tuesday Two" since two songs is hardly a playlist. So here's the "Tuesday Ten". Yeah. Rolls of the tongue.
Note: This may not become a recurring post
Tuesday Ten cause alliteration is awesome!...: Indie & Indie Rock
So today I chose a bunch of Indie songs that I really enjoy on a sunny day, however the last two songs I let my iTunes decide what was going to be played (of course in the same genre). So enjoy!
Girls - Laura
The Rural Alberta Advantage - Muscle Relaxants
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! - Heavy Metal
Bombay Bicycle Club - Always Like This
Cloud Nothings - Turning On
Bright Eyes - Triple Spiral
Look See Proof - Casualty
Breakbreakbreaks - Why Tell The Truth (When It's Easier To Lie)
Cloud Nothings - Heartbeat
Vampire Weekend - California English
Ahhh yeahhhhhhhhhhhh...

Leopard Print Pillbox Hat
Hi guys!
So two nights ago, I went to a concert here in wonderful NYC and saw Bombay Bicycle Club live. And all I have to say is, if anyone has the chance to see them on their current tour it, DO IT. These guys are INCREDIBLE live.
I posted one of their songs, Dust on the Ground, a while back in this post. However, they pulled a Bob Dylan last night.
The band's first album, I Had the Blues But I Shook Them Loose, was all electric. They mixed synthesized sounds with their, sometimes eerie, guitar rifts. It made for a upbeat, bang your head a bit album. It had some of the similar sounds of most of the British bands coming out lately, but Jack Steadman's vocals are just out of this world. He also has a knack for clever lyrics.
Magnet - Bombay Bicycle Club
Always Like This - Bombway Bicycle Club
Cancel On My Again - Bombay Bicycle Club
On their latest album, Flaws, they pulled a 180. It was all acoustic. It had the feeling of a Bon Iver stylize. Smooth lyrics with even smoother guitar picking.
Here's some samples
Rinse Me Down - Bombay Bicycle Club
Jewel - Bombay Bicycle Club
Flaws - Bombay Bicycle Club
Going to the concert on Monday, I had the expectation of standing, crying, on the floor just being drifted away on his cloudy voice and wonderful guitar picking. What I got was a complete Bob Dylan, circa 1965. They walk on stage with their electric guitars and just start rockin' it. Jack Steadman even uses the same style guitar as Bob during that time period, Fender Stratocaster. And the title of their first album, I'm sure is Dylan influenced. Crazy. However, I didn't feel the same way as those at the Newport Folk Festival did. I loved it. It was exactly what I needed- an upbeat Monday evening to get me through the weekend.
So check these guys out. I'm sure you will enjoy them!

Starry Eyed
Hello followers!
I am back with vengeance! I have actually be really into Tumblr lately, so my apologizes for being away. However, I have found some ROOOOOCCCKIINNNNNG BEATS in the past month.
If you wanna follow me, here's my link! Follow me!
I seriously have done nothing but been working, homework, and listening to new music. I have been making so many new friends over the last couple of weeks who also have caught the electronic bug...
Here are some fantastic jams I have had on repeat this week.

Zedd - Autonomy (Cold Blank Remix)
So this is originally by Zedd, a German house dj who is quickly getting famous. He just was announced on the line up for Ultra in Miami. He is currently signed to mau5trap and is playing with huge names like Skrillex. Here is his SoundCloud with lots of his remixes. Cold Blank (Christopher Gaspar Isla and Manuel Luquin) are a Los Angeles based Electronic House duo who are blowing up too! Here's their SoundCloud. Freshhhhhh!

MiMOSA - Lullabyte
This is off MiMOSA's album called Hostilis. Mimosa is a dubstep/glitch hop/dub-hop dj. He currently works in LA but is originally from the Bay Area. His other albums are Flux for Life, Psychedelic Stereo, and Silver Lining. Here's his SoundCloud. His beats are prettty sick. Very chill.
He's also coming to NYC!!! For those of you in the area, he's playing at Irving Plaza on March 31st. Here's the link for tix and info!

Skrillex - Fucking Die 1
Skrillex - Fucking Die 2 (€€ Cooper Mix)
Oldie but Goodie. Literally this has been on REPEAT for the last week and a half. It's my new anthem haha. I didn't get to see him perform at Webster Hall :'(...MAU!!! Hopefully he will come to Electric Zoo this year!!! He just got picked up at Ultra too so congrats to him!!
I'm sure most of you guys know who Skrillex is/know he's getting huge, etc, etc... His new album is DOPE, too. I just think he's incredible and just the cutest haha! Here's his SoundCloud as well!
I love that all these artists are using SoundCloud. I think it's the new way to interact with fans. I.E. bringing the fans closer to the musician, hopefully breaking down the barriers of of "celebrity". I'm all for it.
Also, I have this great track I just discovered today.. from 2008 but oh well. Not dubstep but still wicked good.

Half Hour o' House
Alright everyone, sorry for that little break in posting. Hopefully I'll come from my trip to Toronto with a whole bunch of new stuff to share. In the meantime, here's another good solid mix for you guys. "DJ S-Mart" is a DJ from Toronto who I'll hopefully have a chance to spin with in a week or so. Anyways, if you're lookin' for a half hour of really big bumpin' House tunes to play at your pre-drink, your post-bar, or on your bathroom floor, here's a mix for you.

New(ish) Music
So school's been giving me a royal kick in the ass, and I wasn't able to listen to all of the great new albums that came out on Tuesday. I know, I know, I'm falling behind. Anyways, here's what came out on Tuesday, and what we think about it.
Toro y Moi - New Beat
Off of the album Underneath The Pine
Toro Y Moi - New Beat
The second studio album from Chazwick Bundick, otherwise know as Toro Y Moi, definitely lives up to the awesomeness of the first album. Sticking true to his last album, Underneath The Pine comes with the same feel, but brings a whole bunch of new sounds that will still have you loving life. Better then the first? It's too close to call.
Protest The Hero - C'est La Vie
Off of the Upcoming album Scurrilous
Protest The Hero - C'est La Vie
Now don't get too excited, Protest The Hero didn't release a new album...yet. March 22nd is when this Canadian Progressive Metal band drops their 3rd studio album titled "Scurrilous". This is just a small taste of whats to come. I'm definitely marking the date in my calendar right now.

Saturday/Sunday Seven: DnB
After a few very long nights, I realized that anytime that I post here, it's usually after midnight. With that being said, I couldn't decide whether this post should be called the Saturday Seven, or the Sunday Seven. Luckily, either one would still satisfy my desire to make the title a witty alliteration.
Sub Focus - Join The Dots
Pendulum - Masochist
Spor - Do not Shake
Cyantific ft. Logistics - Flashback
The Wildlife Collective - I Need A Dollar
Noisia - Alpha Centauri
Sub Focus - Could This Be Real
Moving on. Tonight/This morning I'm posting a nice seven song playlist for you guys. This sorta thing is probably going to become a regular thing around here, usually with a different theme. This time, I'm gonna go with a sweet seven song set of Drum and Bass that may or may not somehow end in a little Dubstep... Enjoy!

New Music Tuesday
I don't know about anyone else, but Monday was a struggle. Thank god Tuesday means new releases! This week was unreal. Amazing albums with big tracks. However I'm tired, and can't go into much detail. Here are four tracks I liked of of four different albums.
[EDIT: I went back and wrote a little blurb on each album. Even if you don't read them, they're there.]
Beans - Glass Coffins
Beans comes back hard with his choppy off beat rhymes in "End It All". There's some amazing cameo producer appearances by the likes of DJ Nobody, and Sam Fog of Interpol.
Other notable songs:
+ Gluetraps
+ Deathsweater (Prod. by DJ Nobody)
Bright Eyes - Shell Games
I listened to this whole album through and absolutely loved every minute. The album's release coincided with Connor Oberst's birthday (Happy Belated Connor!), and steers away from their normal folky sound. Oberst said that he wanted this album to "rocking, and for lack of a better term, contemporary, or modern."
Other notable songs:
+ Ladder song
+ The whole damn album.
P.J. Harvey - Hanging In The Wire
Very interesting album from P.J. Harvey. This album was actually recorded in a Church in Germany, and was pretty much all recorded live. Great great feel from this album, nice relaxing with vocals reminiscent of the Noise genre type.
Other notable song:
+ title track Let England Shake
Mogwai - Mexican Grand Prix
I wasn't familiar with Mogwai before this album, and now I'm hooked. From Scotland (like a hell of a lot of good acts today), this is an amazing Post Rock/Progressive/Ambient album that is masterfully written. Have a listen and enjoy.
Other notable songs:
+ White Noise
+ How To Be A Werewold

Other notable songs:
+ Gluetraps
+ Deathsweater (Prod. by DJ Nobody)
Labels:
Beans,
Bright Eyes,
Connor Oberst,

Que significa?
Good evening everybody. Hope your weeks are going well and you are happy that it is over 1/2 way done!! I truly believe everyone works for the weekend. I'm so ready.
Anyway, so this week, after having an amazing time over the weekend seeing Zed's Dead and Pendulum with my partner in crime, Mr. Bell, I started wondering why I liked that sort of music so much. Some people don't even consider that music. Some suggest making music with computers has no relevance or doesn't require any talent.
So I questioned, "What is music to me and what makes a musician 'talented'?" From my perspective, music is just the interconnecting of sound waves to produce an emotional beat. I find music in odd things like the mixing of outdoor noises, the clanging of the subway, or just someone tapping a chair. I don't think one necessarily needs the ability to play an instrument to do this. This is why I find the artist Pogo so interesting.

Pogo, or Nick Bertke, lives in the land down under and produces music from sampling mostly Disney movies. GENIUS!!! Seriously. How this guy does it I have no idea. I thought Girl Talk was cool, but this guy is even better. Pogo takes sound bites from different movies and combines them to make sick beats. He even created a song from sample noises he made in his mom's garden. Definition of how music is defined in the ability to create a flowing melodic tones, not matter what source.
Currently Pogo has been getting a lot of press and gaining a lot of positive attention. Disney's Pixar even flew him out to work with them on the soundtrack for "UP".
On March 5th, Pogo will be playing in NYC at the Highline Ballroom so get your tickets!
Here are some of my favs from Pogo.
Pogo - Alice
Pogo - Upular
Pogo - Wishery
Take a look at his YouTube page too! He has even made music videos for his songs.
Can't wait to see him!

We're hoping to get up to 5000 hits by the end of the month which would mean doubling the number we have now. It's a tough goal, but if you guys give us a hand we can definitely achieve it! New Bathroom, Same Session.
Alright everyone, big things are happening! We (well, just me) promised change, so here it is! We're (hopefully) starting something new tonight, which is gonna change the way you read and listen to The Bathroom Session. Just check it out.
Tonight I'm in an Indie Rock-ish type of mood. After working all day, there's nothing better then coming home, grabbing a sandwich, and enjoy some great upbeat music. So, with that said, here's some of the first great Indie to be released in 2011.
Tapes 'n' Tapes - Freak Out
Tapes 'n' Tapes - Freak Out
This song is off of Minnesota's Tapes 'n' Tapes' brand new album Outside. This song definitely shows a taste of some of the great shows Tapes 'n' Tapes will play this coming year. Hopefully I'll be less broke when they swing around my neck of the woods.
Cloud Nothings - Understand At All
Cloud Nothings - Understand At All
This is the first track off of their newest self-titled album, and is quickly making its way onto my Most Played list. They managed to follow an amazing EP with an even better full length album. Thanks Could Nothings, hopefully I see you this year too.
Cut Copy - Take Me Over
Cut Copy - Take Me Over
Even though this single was dropped late last year, I'm posting it because THE NEW ALBUM COMES OUT TUESDAY! Yeah, new Cut Copy. This song shows that they're coming back with the same sound, but a few new tricks up their sleeves.
Now, with this all said and done, lets see how this new fangled gadget works out. This is a big step for us! Think about it, all of the songs are now on a playlist on that little thing in the corner, and will play through until the end. That means: no more having to change the song once its done, new possibilities, and most importantly:
NO more YouTube!!!
Enjoy!

JJJJJOOWZA!
Hi friends!
It's been a while! I hope you guys had a great wintery holidays and didn't get frost bitten in the on going snow doom that's occurring around the country right now. I know I am trying my hardest.
Before we went on holiday, my dear friend Sage had a wonderful Christmas cookie party where I met Kuxxan Suum.
Kuxxan Suum is "according to discoveries about the Classic Maya, is what connects us to the sun/moon/stars, and thus, the galactic core, Hunab Ku." The descriptions goes on to say:
"In this day and age, it may be difficult for people to resonate, or meditate, deep enough to understand this tradition of galactic communication. In fact, the mind and solar-plexis of the current human being may not be able to harness or comprehend the vibrations necessary to communicate with the galactic core. The artist, kuxxan SUUM, is inspired by this mystic galactic tradition/human- communicative-trait.The artist puts contemporary and antiquated sounds of the human race in a musical space that reflects and raises awareness of this lost connection with the average person and Hunab Ku."
Brilliant.
I think Kuxxan Suum creates this in his album "Language/Barrier." A play on words, language can be used as a form of communication but also presents a barrier. We use language to express ourselves but sometimes cannot be understood or communicate with every being. Take for instance, referring to the Mayans, the first presence of the Spanish in America. The Spanish conquered the Mayans and read them the Requerimiento but in a language the Mayans couldn't understand sometimes without a translator present. This idea of language and barrier swims through his album with the utilization of "humans speaking" samples but have been skewed to diminish their clarity. Even some of the track titles present lack of understanding. However, a continual vibration of sounds is the answer the the communication and returns to the idea of humans inability to understand the vibrations to connect to galactic core.
Each song on this album is COMPLETELY different. Which I guess presents the prominent idea of different forms of language. Kuxxan Suum samples music from jazz to rock to dub which again goes back to the continuous vibration. A connection of vibration. I even felt like sometimes I was traveling through the galaxy in a spaceship. Overall, I really liked this little album. I do wish some of the songs had been longer. I hope the next album brings even more vibration and flow!!!

Bleep Blorp Bleep.
Hey everyone! Let me start by apologizing immensely for the past month or so. We definitely dropped the ball on this thing, and I'm very sorry about that. So! Since February is a new month, we're gonna start fresh. A whole new Bathroom Session for a whole new year (even though we're a month late)! So this year be on the look out for more guest spots, more album reviews, more fun filled facts, and who knows, maybe some concert reviews! In short:
We're Back Baby!
Let's get the ball rolling with a bit of analog songs. Sure everybody uses some analog or 8-bit sounding samples in today's music, but it's rare to find artists using only 8 or 16-bit sounds, and actually making it sound amazing! Here's some of my favourite Chiptune songs.
Daft Punk - Aerodynamic (8-Bit by Je Deviens DJ En 3 Jours) (8-Bit, Chiptune)
Amazing rework of one of my favourite Daft Punk songs. This is an amazing mix by French 8-Bit artist Je Deviens DJ En 3 Jours and is part of an album called Da Chip which is "The music of Daft Punk revisited as vintage Game Systems". You pretty much can't go wrong with a tag line like that.
Bit Shifter - Activation Theme (8-Bit/Chiptune)
Songs like this prove the fact that you don't need to have twenty layers of twenty instruments to make outstanding Electric dance music. Bit Shifter produces an amazing song here, and you just can't help but grin and bounce in your seat while you listen to it. Really. I challenge you.
[this was the best video I could find on YouTube with the whole song intact and sounding it's best]
Anamanaguchi - Blackout City (Chiptune/Punk)
And of course, Anamanaguchi, an unreal 8-Bit Punk band from NYC. In the past two years they've exploded into the music scene. Providing the ENTIRE SOUNDTRACK to the movie adaptation of Scott Pilgram vs. The World last year, as well as dropping 5 singles, they stay true to their tag line: "Anamanaguchi makes loud, fast music with a hacked NES from 1985."
PixelH8 - We Can All See Rainbows (8-Bit/Chiptune)
Finally, PixelH8, one of the leaders in this genre. Amazing song, and really wicked video as well. Now go dust of your NES and tell it you love it.

I Heard You Like Bass?
Alright ladies and gentlemen, here we go. It's a fresh new year, and so far we haven't started it off all that well. With a new year comes surprises, for example: Look back at what you were listening to this time last year, and then look at what you're listening to now. Are they the same? No. Imagine what we're going to be listening to a year from now? Who knows.
Anyways, here's a couple songs with enough bass to shake things off of your head. {maybe}
Adele - Hometown Glory (Chewy Chocolate Cookies Remix)
Duck Sauce - Barbara Streisand (Sigma Remix)
Xample & Lomax - Link To The Past

Thank you American Record Producers.
Dear American Record Producers,
I wanted to thank you for the growth of American participation in the House/Techno/Dubstep movement. As I sit here in my local coffee shop, I reflect on the music I have been currently been hearing on the radio. Usually when I am home to the currently snowy city of Memphis, I refuse to listen to the radio. I have a tape deck in my car where I hook up my iPod to my car stereo system.
Why not? No commercials; no annoying Djs; I can keep up with my music ADD and I can listen to all my "You probably haven't heard of them" bands. However, when I arrived home, I discovered that there was a new radio station in town that tended to showcase the utter nonsense that some radio stations display. No stupid early morning discussions on which celebrity had a baby this week or whatever bullshit. Just pure music.
Also I found that most of the music I actually enjoyed. Each beat was better than the next. Much of the music on the radio I actually hate. I'm not really into the "Corporate American Pop." However, the current pop music is following a different path. Black Eyed Peas and Rihanna are of course blowing up the radio currently, which I do not mind at all. I think David Guetta has had a great influence on these two artists. They are currently incorporating the beats and rhythms of songs within the House/Techno/Dubstep genres. (I think Deadmau5 appearance at the VMAs and the HUGE following he has in America is an additional factor to this growing trend)
When I went to iTunes, this influence was even more prevalent. Of course most of the songs on the Top 10 Singles were on the radio but I was actually surprised to find "Stereo Love" by Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina at number 15!! This song has been HUGE in Europe since it came out. So here are some of the new tunes I am in love with.
Britney. You have won my heart again. I idolized you as a kid and now as an adult have fall in love with you again. Your "Blackout" album is the soundtrack of my Freshman year of college and now you have pulled my heartstrings again with your integration of Dubstep beats into this song (Go to around 2:30 to hear the dank beats). I haven't actually heard this on the radio yet, but I immediately BOUGHT (YES BOUGHT) this song when someone posted it on the FB. I hope her whole album is like this. If Brit is with it, then everyone should be. All I'm saying.
Enrique Iglesias - Tonight I'm Lovin you feat Ludacris
Uploaded by jimihubabua. - See the latest featured music videos. (I apologize for this video. It was the only one I could find. YouTube was cracking down on the Copyrights) Woah. The mole has left Enrique and he has emerged as a House God. He now reminds me of what Juanes is doing currently in the House world. LOOOVEE IT! Yes the lyrics are still sucky but there is a beat drop. But alas. Still great!! Sincerely, Meredith
