Hey everyone! Let me start by apologizing immensely for the past month or so. We definitely dropped the ball on this thing, and I'm very sorry about that. So! Since February is a new month, we're gonna start fresh. A whole new Bathroom Session for a whole new year (even though we're a month late)! So this year be on the look out for more guest spots, more album reviews, more fun filled facts, and who knows, maybe some concert reviews! In short:


We're Back Baby!


Let's get the ball rolling with a bit of analog songs. Sure everybody uses some analog or 8-bit sounding samples in today's music, but it's rare to find artists using only 8 or 16-bit sounds, and actually making it sound amazing! Here's some of my favourite Chiptune songs. 


Daft Punk - Aerodynamic (8-Bit by Je Deviens DJ En 3 Jours) (8-Bit, Chiptune)



Amazing rework of one of my favourite Daft Punk songs. This is an amazing mix by French 8-Bit artist Je Deviens DJ En 3 Jours and is part of an album called Da Chip which is "The music of Daft Punk revisited as vintage Game Systems". You pretty much can't go wrong with a tag line like that. 


Bit Shifter - Activation Theme (8-Bit/Chiptune)



Songs like this prove the fact that you don't need to have twenty layers of twenty instruments to make outstanding Electric dance music. Bit Shifter produces an amazing song here, and you just can't help but grin and bounce in your seat while you listen to it. Really. I challenge you.

Anamanaguchi - Blackout City (Chiptune/Punk)


And of course, Anamanaguchi, an unreal 8-Bit Punk band from NYC. In the past two years they've exploded into the music scene. Providing the ENTIRE SOUNDTRACK to the movie adaptation of Scott Pilgram vs. The World last year, as well as dropping 5 singles, they stay true to their tag line: "Anamanaguchi makes loud, fast music with a hacked NES from 1985."

Finally, PixelH8, one of the leaders in this genre. Amazing song, and really wicked video as well. Now go dust of your NES and tell it you love it.

Alright ladies and gentlemen, here we go. It's a fresh new year, and so far we haven't started it off all that well. With a new year comes surprises, for example: Look back at what you were listening to this time last year, and then look at what you're listening to now. Are they the same? No. Imagine what we're going to be listening to a year from now? Who knows.

Dear American Record Producers, I wanted to thank you for the growth of American participation in the House/Techno/Dubstep movement. As I sit here in my local coffee shop, I reflect on the music I have been currently been hearing on the radio. Usually when I am home to the currently snowy city of Memphis, I refuse to listen to the radio. I have a tape deck in my car where I hook up my iPod to my car stereo system. Why not? No commercials; no annoying Djs; I can keep up with my music ADD and I can listen to all my "You probably haven't heard of them" bands. However, when I arrived home, I discovered that there was a new radio station in town that tended to showcase the utter nonsense that some radio stations display. No stupid early morning discussions on which celebrity had a baby this week or whatever bullshit. Just pure music. Also I found that most of the music I actually enjoyed. Each beat was better than the next. Much of the music on the radio I actually hate. I'm not really into the "Corporate American Pop." However, the current pop music is following a different path. Black Eyed Peas and Rihanna are of course blowing up the radio currently, which I do not mind at all. I think David Guetta has had a great influence on these two artists. They are currently incorporating the beats and rhythms of songs within the House/Techno/Dubstep genres. (I think Deadmau5 appearance at the VMAs and the HUGE following he has in America is an additional factor to this growing trend) When I went to iTunes, this influence was even more prevalent. Of course most of the songs on the Top 10 Singles were on the radio but I was actually surprised to find "Stereo Love" by Edward Maya & Vika Jigulina at number 15!! This song has been HUGE in Europe since it came out. So here are some of the new tunes I am in love with. Britney. You have won my heart again. I idolized you as a kid and now as an adult have fall in love with you again. Your "Blackout" album is the soundtrack of my Freshman year of college and now you have pulled my heartstrings again with your integration of Dubstep beats into this song (Go to around 2:30 to hear the dank beats). I haven't actually heard this on the radio yet, but I immediately BOUGHT (YES BOUGHT) this song when someone posted it on the FB. I hope her whole album is like this. If Brit is with it, then everyone should be. All I'm saying.
